Backing up my system
Sorry about that.
Anyway I've got this system that i want to back up on the same system and i want to use a tar command. I'll take this tar ball and then export it off the system using SMBFS to ship it over to my NT machine. The problem i'm facing is that the backup wants to make a backup of itself!! This is obviously not what i want to have happen. Is there anyone who can offer some solutions to this other than backing up to an external device.(None available) TIA |

hehehe...hehehe.
that sucks, doesn't it? well, if you have smbfs compiled into your kernel, try mounting the share with smbmount, or, depending on your partitioning scheme tar your individual filesystems one at a time and bounce the tarballs around, or use Ghost4Unix to create an image and send it to an FTP server....sorry, but it's easier to find a free/inexpensive ftp server for windows than it is to find a free/inexpensive NFS server for windows. |
