win for linux?
I have heard of a program called "win for linux", anyone know much about this? I think that it should(obvisously) allow for linux to run windows programs, but I wonder if it is reliable or if it has any problems(memory hog)?

Hi Jim:
I think he means more like : wine It allows you to use certain windows programs, APIs in the GUI. Its pretty decent, doesnt work for anything too complicated, and the speed leaves some to be desired, but will allow you to get by. If you really need a windows environment check out www.vmware.com to use a virtual machine within your Linux. Teh difference is that while the former deals with an EMULATED environment, vmware and the like provide a whole different environment for Windows. HTH |
