Ubuntu Internet
Hello,
Today i recieved my ubuntu linux cd's in the mail, i was very happy. Well i decided to run the live cd since i wont have time to do a real install until the weekend. While the computer was starting up it recognized the network adapter on my motherboard. When i got to my desktop i search the network and it showed the other computers that i have connected on my home network, but when i went to get on the internet it would not load a web page. What is the problem, i have cable internet what do i need to do to be able to start using the internet. Im sorry if this is a basic question, but im new to this. Is it not working because im using the live cd. By the way i have an: Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard 1gig ram amd xp 3200 120gb hard drive. any help would be greatly appreciated |

Compare your settings in Windows (Network Card Properties > TCP/IP) to the settings in Ubuntu (System > Administration > Networking > Ethernet Adapter).
They should be identical. |

While in Ubuntu go to http://64.233.167.104/ (a Google IP Address). Does that resolve to a web page?

You just need to enter the correct DNS settings. Did you compare the settings to what you have in Windows?
