2 Questions for Ubuntu Linux(internet and bootloader)

Just 2 questions:

I installed Ubuntu a few days ago and the bootloader did not install properly. My main install is Windows on a RAID 0 array. I have a third S-ata drive that i put Ubuntu on. During the install it must have installed it on the Linux drive(maybe because it couldn't put it on the raid?)

I was wondering if there is just a boot loader that i can install seperately from Windows, thus putting it on the MBR?

also my internet is not working properly, It will not go to many sites, and if i do get into a site, it will not follow links.... It is set up to automatically deteck settings, just like i have it in windows...

I am new to Linux and I dont even know where to start...

I also get errors when I try to update the package managers and stuff like that, so not sure what to do

as for boot managers i would recommend XOSL, you will have to google it,

as for the internet, whats your network setup?

reason i ask is if its DHCP then it should be very easy it becomes slightly more difficult if you have to set a static IP, ifconfig is what you need, it works similar to ipconfig, run it and see if your device is recognised, if it has it would be eth0 if you just have loopback then you need to install the lan card driver, if you have eth0 up and running but it doesnt have an address try dhclient i forget the switch but its most likely --refresh or --renew just type dhclient --help and it will give all options.

havent been able to test the net stuff yet, but did get a chance to look at that bootloader, it looks like it has a nice GUI, but how hard is it going to be to install? I dont think i can even boot into to DOS to install it. I'll have to get that Dr Dos i guess, but wiil it work if i already hve XP installed? Will i have to make a partition for it? Doesn't look like it resides in the MBR, and the instructions were a bit vague, representing different problems, but not really giving basic install instructions. At least not that i found...

thanks,
