Exclamation Internet Connection On SuSE 10?

OK well here's my case. I jus installed Linux SuSE v10 on my Compaq. I've never used Linux before. So now, I'm trying to figure out how to either, setup an internet connection manually or to install the Netzero software made for Lindows. Well, I dont know how to install the Netzero software made for Lindows but Linux can read it.. and I dont know how to set up an internet connection manually. Can someone teach me both methods??

If you have to use Netzero dialup to get on the Internet, you cannot do that manually. You have to install their software, they do not allow a standard configuration. They aren't the only one - AOL, MSN, and several others are the same in this respect. If their software is not compatible with SuSE, you are out of luck.

If you must use dialup, and are looking for an ISP that allows a standard connection, look at local providers or Earthlink.

I have the netzero.deb file and Linux can read it but whenever I try to open it, it shows me the contents of the file. How do I just execute the file itself to install? Or can I not do that?

OK I finally got the NetZero software installed. Now when I try to connect an error comes up..

"Your Modem Is Not Defiend. Please make sure the file /dev/modem exists"

So I tried going into the YaST2 control panel and added a modem to my dial up network connections and it did nothing. Help anyone?
