New user for ubuntu

i have a ubuntu disk distro 5.04version. first off, i just want to know if windows based device drivers are compatible?

Since you are using Linux, you need Linux drivers for your hardware. Ubuntu has good built in support though, so you probably won't need many.

You should probably get the current version, 5.10 if you are going to install Ubuntu. 5.04 will not be supported too much longer.
