FC5 x86-64 problem

Hi
I am building a "server" but I have come to one really pain in the backside problem
Upon boot, it crashes at the login screen, it ocasionally says "Your last session was less than 10 seconds..." and it rarely pops up.

The way I found to bypass it is a temproray measure by going to runlevel 2 on boot and typing init 5 in console after login.

I did some googling and well, it was more or less inconclusive.

System specs are Intel Pentium D 3ghz
Asus p5ld2vm, Intel 945 graphics(integrated)
Ballistix 512mb ram
Hitachi 400gb sataa

If anyone can help out, that would be great.

Thanks in advance
Jason

Are you able to replicate the problem using the 32-bit release of FC5?
I know in a lot of distros 64-bit is still experimental, but they don't really mention that to you until you dig through their forums.

Well Thankyou for the reply
I just tried it out and the problem is unable to be replicated.
Now I am assuming that as this problem can not be replicated under the 32bit conditions, it is something wrong with the I945 video card driver for x86-64? or something along those lines.

Meanwhile, Ill just stick with the 32bit for a while, although the 32bit does bug me in one aspect, whenever I boot up, it always goes to KDM not the GNOME version which I like and KDM does not permit root logons(doing loads of configs now so cant be bothered with normal user). Is there anyway to change that just out of interest?

EDIT: Nevermind, that question, I can get GDM started with system now. However it gives an error if I am not using failsafe.
It says my session lasted less than 10 seconds and on viewing the file, it states a warning about GTK+(i think) not being able to register the current GNOME session or something along the lines.
So Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks
Once again, Thank you all who have replied, I am not exactly very familiar with Linux
Jason
