A Few ubuntu Linux problems
Recently, I installed Ubuntu Linux on my computer with one hard drive.
I had all of my windows files, the OS and my files on the C drive. I chose the guided partition or similar while installing, and it said stuff about installing on hda partition # 5 and something else about hda partition # 3. When i start my computer up, the GRUB screen comes up letting me choose between Ubuntu, Ubuntu safe mode, something else, and Windows. The problem is when i try to start windows a blue screen comes up saying that a recent hardware or software install has done something, and windows doesn't start up. Another problem i have been having is on Linux, it sometimes freezes. It has done so twice in the 1 and 1/2 day i have had it. Once, it froze during the screensaver, and another time while choosing a screensaver. I think it also did one other time, though i forget what i was doing then. Finally, Rhythmbox won't import the music folders. I am completely unsure of why this is happening. When i run it through terminal, it has these messages, and starts up. (rhythmbox:5506): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_new_from_file: assertion `filename != NULL' failedThank you |

Here is a great thread about lockups: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=76288
I've seen them happen on certain hardware in Ubuntu 5.10, but moving them to the latest version of Ubuntu 6.06 seemed to fix it. |
