Unbuntu footprint?
Does anyone happen to know what the installed footprint of Ubuntu is. The reason I'm asking is that I have a spare 3GB HD and i was wondering if it would fit. The only thing that the computer would be used for is surfing the internet and watching movies though the dvd drive
Thanks Ben |

Not big enough. My install of Kubuntu is using 5 gigs without all THAT much else installed.

Ubuntu will use slightly less space than Kubuntu, however you want to have as much space available as you would for an XP install.

If you want to make a Linux box with a 3 gig drive, maybe look for an older distro of something that's not as bulky.

You might want to give the newbie friendly distro Puppy Linux a try.
http://www.puppylinux.org/ Personally, I've never used it, but It got good reviews from NewsForge and sounds like it would fit your needs perfectly. |
