mounting ntfs

I have a machine with Redhat 7.1 and a damaged Windows 2k install on it. I need to mount the ntfs partition from linux to back it up over my LAN. When I give the command: mount -t auto /dev/hda5 /mnt/ntfsdrive, I get the error: mount: fs ntfs not supported by kernel. I know that there are compatibility issues but I though that I could at least read the ntfs file system. Help?
