Mysql and FC5

Heya all,
I recently started trying to use my linux computer to run as a web server. I started the mysqld service and the httpd service. Webpages works and so does php. But when i go to install smf i get this message
Quote:
The installer was unable to detect MySQL support in PHP. Please ask your host to ensure that PHP was compiled with MySQL, or that the proper extension is being loaded.
I tried looking in google and such but they all relate to custom installs, hence different folders than the preinstalled FC5. I also set up the database and user name for a database. Any ideas on how I tell php that there is a running mysql?

Thank you.

Did you compile with the MySQL extention?

Make a file "info.php" and place it in your root directory and put this code in it:
PHP Code:
<?php
phpinfo
();
?>
Look over this page and it will tell you if MySQL support is available. You should see a section called "MySQL".
