Ubuntu Edgy Eft 6.10 WOW I'M IMPRESSED!
I am really really impressed...
this has put the fun back in computing for me. Install Ubuntu, Download Automatix (www.getautomatix.com), set up wine and install a few windows programs, download some 3rd party non-free software (Nerolinux) and some updated versions of oss, and VOILA... a box that did everything my old windows box did and then some... http://www.awakenyourpotential.org/Screenshot.png here is a screen shot of the box I am running right now... I love it oh and EVERYTHING has a built in spell check... gotta love that.. (btw thats my new website I hope to have up in the next year, for people looking to expand their consciousness without drugs via different forms of meditation, supplements, Einsteinian visual thought experiments, pattern recognition photo-reading, experiments in collective consciousness, QiGong (Chi Kung), etc |

Most people prefer the native linux app, k3b, to nerolinux. You may want to take a look at it.

thanks!
yeah I am loving linux... it does everything I did in windows... except faster and more secure... so long Microsoft.. I plan on having two hard drives in my next computer... (the cheapest 16mb+. SATA 3.0Gb/s, Seagate perpendicular drives available) The Pprimary sata will be Ubuntu (AMD64) and I will use it for everything but games and The secondary SATA will be XP(until vista is required for a game I want) will run ONLY games and nothing else. |

From what I've been reading, 6.10 Edgy has a lot of issues - 6.06 LTS Dapper is a lot more solid and is regarded as the best Ubuntu.

I just updated my installation from 6.06 to 6.10 today. So far so good (knock on wood).
If I experience any issues I'll report them. 6.06 was extremely stable, I just wanted to move on to the latest and greatest. |

I tried to update and it failed - so I cleaned up and reupdated Dapper.

I always do a reformat. I had a bad experience trying to go from 5.04 to 5.10 through the "update" and haven't tried since.
I can have the system completely loaded with all my programs in about an hour and a half. |

My update from 5.10 to 6.06 went flawlessly and it actually fixed a few issues I was having.
