Question Ubuntu install

Right now my computer is a Compaq C7588. It has a 500mhz processor, 256mb RAM, 25 GB Hard Drive, and a 52 CD/DVD Burner. Right now it has Windows XP. It crashed and is really really slow, so I decided to download Ubuntu and burn it on a CD with my other computer. Then I will install Ubuntu and format the drive. I wonder if I will need any drivers for the computer. Also there are no PCI devices in the computer. I also do have the recovery disc for the computer. It originally had Windows 98. I just want to know If I need any drivers where would I get them. Also some tips would be nice to. I know what Linux is and I know it is a completely different operating system compared to windows. Thanks for your help. I forgot it does have a 32mb graphics card in the PCI slot. I do not know what brand. I will try to find out.

Its amazing how well Linux can work with older hardware and requires very little resources compared to Windows products. You made a great choice with Ubuntu you gonna love how well your compaq is gonna respond with it.

This isn't a fair statement at all. Name one for-profit company that doesn't.
