Making an Installtion CD for Ubuntu

Hi,

I have downloaded the .ISO file, which apparently is the installation file for Ubuntu.

Now what? Do I just burn this file on a CD, and use the CD as a bootable installation disc? Or will I need something else too?

I have worked with Mandrake earlier, and it's installation was really scary... I was ready for loosing the windows partition, so used a spare HDD, and my nightmare came true... I lost all the Windows partitions in this spare HDD. Anyways...

The good part is, somewhere I have read we can shrink existing Windows partitions and make space for Ubuntu to install... Is that right?

Is there any precaution that I need to take before I start the install?

I have read the article by Jason Faulkner, but those are the questions which really were not answered completely...

I have got lots of sec mem space on my HDD, have two SATA HDD's which adds up to 200 gigs of space, RAM of 1 GB, a 3.4 GHz Duo Core.

Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks,
Aqua...

Well... Dont bother... I found the answer... and tried it too...

For making the bootable disk work... All I needed was the right Image burner. Nero did no good.

Try this page if you too want to make an ISO image disk for installing Ubuntu...

Enjoy!

I had no problem making mine with Nero Express - create CD from saved project or image, browse to the iso.......

You record it to the burner, not the image recorder.

I only use Nero when in windows, and it works great for .iso files.
