Accessing Windows shares from Linux
OK, I have successfully transformed my main computer into Mandrake 8.0. Now, I am forced to learn this OS. But, I need a little help. I played around with Samba for awhile, and I get the feeling that it only allows windows machines to access linux files and not vice versa. I read that you guys have had trouble with setting up a linux box to use a networked printer on windows, but that is one of my objectives. Also, to be able to access a shared folder on the network with all of my mp3's on it! I've been working at this for hours, and finally learned that to access a computer on the network, you type: "lan://homeofficecomputer"... I tried that, and it did not work. And I couldn't find anything in Samba to allow window's shares. Oh well, any suggestion!??!?

Like you I'd also like to be able to see files on and download files from my windows systems. I'd also like to back up to a large harddrive on one of my windows systems (to create redundant backups). I also have a printer hanging off one of my windows machines. I'd like to be able to print from my Linux box. If somebody has a solution, I'd ask that they please post it.
