Help with installing Ubuntu 6.10

I have an Asus p5s800-mv Motherboard with a Intel P4 650 3.40 Prescott Processor with a western Digital Sata 250 Gig Hard Drive installed. My problem is when I try running the Ubuntu live CD, all it does is run the splash screen, like it's frozen. Can anyone tell me what could be my problem.

Maybe you've got a bad burn? What about trying a different CD/DVD Drive to run the disc from?

I had the same thing yesterday with an Ubuntu install. Ended up being a bad download or bad disk. I downloaded again from a different site, which was 3 times faster, and burned a new disk. Problem resolved.

Sorry if this sounds too obvious but are you booting from your cd drive? (The splash is all that comes up otherwise).

You have to change the boot priority in the BIOS. If you don't know how to enter the BIOS report back here.
