Ubuntu users and Windows 7

I like Ubuntu, I like it a lot. I really like windows 7 as well. I am just wondering how much impact will 7 have on ubuntu users.

I don't see any reason why there should be any impact at all. they both work fine, but you can still do a lot more on w7 than you can on ubuntu, at least that is the way I see it from my point of view.

Exactly, some of the frustrations of Linux users is compatiblity issues with software made to work with Windows. Microsoft did state at one point that 7 was direct competition to try and curb the ever growing Linux fan base, specially in Europe.

There are Windows users. and there are Linux users. MS may sway some to Windows, but for the personal user charging 200+ dollars for an OS, every what, five years on the average for a new Operating System then after X amount of years stop supporting the older operating Systems so users have to purchase newer versions.

I use both types of OS's each has its pros, and cons. For some reason the cost of Open Source, versus the price of Windows is very appealing.

I use mostly the same programs under Ubuntu that I did with Windows, nearly all of them open source. MS isnt getting my money anytime soon. If I were to switch to a new OS again, it would probably be OSX.

I don't think they will really have any affect on the others user base. The people that use ubuntu and other distros are most likely going to continue using it, and those than use windows will most likely continue using that.

People from each side may try the other side out, but I don't really see too many people switching from ubuntu to windows. I would think more people would switch from windows to ubuntu or other distro since it's free and getting easier to use.

Ubuntu specifically has taken a good size bite from the windows base in the last 3 years. Nothing that would hurt MS, not yet anyways but I seem to be selling more Linux machines recently than I have 3 years ago.
