Wireless card that will work under ubuntu 9.04
I'm looking for a wireless card (USB or PCI; not PCIexpress) that would be *easily* supported under unbuntu 9.04 (the keyword is easy here...I don't want to go messing around with a lot of command line stuff or compiling drivers).
This card would be used with a linksys WRT54GL v1.1 wireless router running DD-WRT v24-sp2 firmware and WPA2 encryption. Thanks

You want something Broadcom or Intel based for best compatability. The ones that always gave me fits were Atheros cards. Even though their driver is now open source, I still usually find myself compiling a Madwifi driver for it.

Aw, wish I saw your message earlier, Tin...I would've focused on those.
I saw a good deal on a Linksys WMP54G and wanted to snag it before I missed the special ($20 for the card, instead of the $50-$60 usual price for a PCI card) It was on the compatibility list I stumbled across: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ha...Linksys#WMP54G I'll post back with results when I get it installed |

I have a Linksys WUSB54GC 802.11g Adapter it uses the rt73 ralink chip set, it works perfectly with any Linux distro, because the recent versions of the kernel have great support for rt73. So that one might work, I think I have an extra around my house. I could ship to you maybe

I installed the wireless card last night...it gave me no driver issues, but I did have to add the wireless network manually. I'm not sure if that's a ubuntu thing, or something with the card itself.
Either way, after the wireless network was added and the WPA2 password entered, it worked fine

It's still in "pre-release" or beta or whatever they call it (it's build 12533)
Just look up your router under the "supported hardware" section |
