The answer in the past has always been no since it required a PowerPC chip to run. I don't know if anyone has tried a port of the OS10 which seems like it would maybe work.

I have a copy of MacOS 10 for PC (open source), but I'll be damned if I can remember where I got it. I tried it on my system, got it to load once to a "Unix like" command prompt, but not knowing anything else what to do with it, couldn't get anywhere from there. If anyone is interested in it, I could probably make an image file of the CD and post it on my web server to check out.

OK, I'll have to go through my stuff and find it. Probably won't have it up until tomorrow at the earliest, I'll let you know.

btw What does HAL9000 mean? I know it a rip off or some joke about IBM because the letters fall before I-H, B-A, M-L. but that's about all i know

Not at all. The HAL9000 is the computer in the movies 2001 and 2010. In 2001, it goes crazy and kills the crew of a space probe. Coincidently, the name of the only person to survive is Dave (also my name).

Actually, here is what I found on the Internet.

One Step Ahead of IBM. Many have speculated that the "HAL" in HAL 9000 is a veiled reference to IBM (the letters H-A-L immediately precede I-B-M in the alphabet). Arthur C. Clarke has remarked on this interesting coincidence, but insists that "HAL" is an acronym for "Heuristically programmed ALgorithmic computer

You can download Darwin there. Note, the last time I tried it, it would ONLY work on an Intel BX mobo, and ONLY had drivers for certain Intel nics.

If you get it working, you can get the latest version of Xfree86 and the Aqua window manager to make it 'look' like OSX, but it won't have all the user-friendly extras as the true OSX .

i guess you could say that i'm in that experimental phase where i just download everything and try new things with this win2k box. it's a learning process but requires many reformats.,

Tip to prevent a re-format: Get rid of Intelli-point drivers before trying to upgrade to a different USB/optical mouse, thats what kill my PC the last time...
