Ubuntu problems with screen resolution

Hi,

My Ubuntu 8.04LTS install boots up with a very low resolution (instead of the correct 1920x1200) and consequently, I'm having problems returning the resolution to the correct setting (can't find my way around the screen).

It worked for months and months correctly but now it's not playing ball.

Any solution to this problem?

TIA.
