hand held computer OS

I want to get a hand held computer (Palm Pilot, Csiopiea,etc..) But i dont know much about computers and I was wondering if it is possible to just install any old program I want onto one of these or are there only certain specifically made programs that one can install on a hand held computer. Specifically I wanted to get a palm computer for the purpose of installing a program called the virtual god box, it is an amzing peice of technology for anyone interested in alternative medicine and new age technology. check out

and read up on the virtual god box and the dedicated god box tell me if i can put that on a casiopeia or a palm pilot or something similar without buying their hardware product. Also, anyone interested in satilite systems and GPS, this guy who did the web site invented gps and you can read all his stories about how the air force screwed him and stole it, cool web site really.
