Sure, should not be a problem. Ubuntu, Fedora, and Mint all work very well. I prefer Mint.

What I usually do is google the model number of the laptop I am looking to install on and the version of linux I am installing and see any problems the laptop has had with it and if they have been fixed or not. Usually I find old post that have been long since resolved.

Everything shows that it should work fine out of the box on your laptop. What version of ubuntu and mint are you trying to instal? Also do you get a connection when your running the live cd? |

It should connect automatically if its an open network, if not you need to go up to the top right corner and click on the little internet icon and open your connection settings and put in your password.

Open up firefox and type this into it while in mint.
file:///usr/lib/linuxmint/mintWifi/index.html also if you can hook up an ethernet for a few minutes you should be able to dl the correct drivers. |

Why are you using an old version? Newer versions generally support more wireless adapters than older versions. Mint 12 is current.
