Open-source accounting software

Is there any open-source accounting software out there that is truly an alternative to popular accounting packages like QuickBooks, Pastel, TasBooka etc.?

Not really. You could run it in a virtual box. Moneydance is an personal finance alternative but it's not free but very reasonable. Moneydance - Personal Finance Manager for Mac, Windows, and Linux | Infinite Kind

5 Best Open Source Accounting Software for Small Business

If you are using Windows and just don't want to buy accounting software, you can look at Turbo Cash.

What operating system are you running?

Quickbooks is available online if you can't install the application: Online accounting software that saves you time - QuickBooks Online

It's not free, though.

GnuCash is a fully featured accounting software program that is free and open source software. This is overkill for managing you personal finances, but is and excellent program for business. It handles and imports Quicken or Quickbook files. For your personal finances there are some programs that are free and open source for Linux, the one I have used and highly recommend is Kmymoney. If you are using a different desktop than KDE you might take a look at Skrooge. If using Ubuntu or Linux Mint, these are all in the repositories.
