laptops

What would be your suggestions for getting the data off of a laptop onto a desktop? I cannot take it out of the laptop because I don't have a desktop interface for it.

If you have a NIC for it and the desktop, get a crossover cable. If not, do a serial or parallel port connection (painfully slow if you have a lot to transfer). If they both have USB, there are USB data transfer cables available now.

Or something like a parallel port device like a Zip drive or the like.

Depends on what you have to work here, there are literally scores of solutions.
