i have just installed linux mandrake 6.1 as a TOTAL linux newbie. i know nothing about linux and wanted to try it out. it installed ok, and when it boots up, after it says [ OK ] in green writing several times, there is a picture of the penguin and the login prompt. I cannot even log in. it says "localhost login: " and i type my user name and hit enter, but i just cant seem to log in. what am i doing wrong? how can i log in?

Hi,
You need to enter your user name and password to get access to your desktop. The account you created during installtion. OOPS!

hahaha
well, if that doesn't work, u can always hack your own box. this is pretty easy if it's runnning lilo and u have physical access to the computer (how could u not?). however, since this is mandrake, it prolly hides the lilo prompt from you, which u need acess to. i'm not sure how to get to it, i've never used the framebuffer console. somone reply to this and continue my thought please!!!!!! ps, once you hack your box, u can just add another user account, then try that one. |
