Games etc...?

Hi all,

I have returned to the Linux forum !

Looking for help again, I was just wondering... If I install linux is it possible for me to run my games on it? I mean new games

I heard you can recompile Windows games in emacs and they will run. I've done a bit of C++ (Quake 1 source code for example) But what about trying to run newer games?

Thanks,

Hi!

I'm not much of a gamer, or even a programmer. But I've never heard of anyone doing that. If it were that simple, I'd think everyone would be doing it.

Besides, I would wonder about the legality of messing with someones' code. Unless it is GNU.

OOPS!

Hi fatboyjim,

Sorry, not being able to play the latest games is one of the downfalls of using Linux. Maybe you can play the games with Wine? Either way, I know for sure you can't recompile the games to run under Linux. The source code is not available, only to (now gone) companies like Loki that ported games to Linux.

Ah yes, this is what I feared

Ah well, I'll install it anyway and try it out. Just spend a few days tinkering and see if I like it

(I already have a dual boot - Just install Linux on another drive and LILO'll do it?
