Linux - hosting with it
I have just installed linux (red hat 6.1)
And im used to running apache on my windows comp but want to get more power out of my server so decided to chabge, - - MY PROBLEM - - I have it installed and works fine, but how do i configure it to run apache, throught the installation it siad it had installed apache but i cant find it, i no i dumb but just to complacent with windows, I need help other wise i might have to stick with windows - arggg.... (if i helps to know - i hope to run mail aswell as http) Thanks alot |

Hi!
At the CLI, type "whereis filename" (without the quotes). That should give you a listing of all the files that contain that name. OOPS!

i'll give it a go. And has anyone got any tips for me, being so new to linux i have no idea what im doing and am scared by those huge books they supplied ![]() (I mean tips about hosting a site) Thanks again everyone James |

Ok, thanks but
I am trying to install apache as the manual says,
the manual says type rpm -qd apache so i do this at the CL, it says 'package apache not installed' I tried the line rpm -qd perl and it installed fine, but why not the thing i need )Can anyone help me... Thanks, James |
