Total Linux Newbie
I just installed Mandrake 8.1 and I have several questions.
1. I can't get it to recognize my modem. 2. I have found a couple solutions, but when it says run setserial, where do I do that from? 3. Can I boot from my cd rom? It doesn't seem to respond when I want to either insert a disk or run the disk that is already in. Thanks |

These guys here are good but you might also want to post this question in the forums at this site. .Linux Junior There's a few more Linux gurus there.
It's always good to have a couple of resources.

R U SURE YOUR MODEM ISN'T A WIN MODEM BECAUSE IF IT IS IT WON;T
RECOGNIZE YOUR MODEM I'VE HAD MANDRAKE 8.1 AND I HAD TO STOP USING IT BECAUSE OF THE SAME ISUES WITH MOST OF MY HARDWARE VIDEO, MODEM CDRW, SOUND. ONLY A COUPLE OF THINGS WORKED BUT NOT AS WELL AS THEY DO IN W2K. |
