changing monitors in Linux Mandrake

I have Linux Mandrake installed. I remember setting the type of monitor to certain monitor during installation. However, I just switched the monitor to a different one, and would like to set the monitor setting correctly.

How do I change the type of monitor I am using in Linux Mandrake 8.1??

Thank you very much.

There are several ways you can do this.

The easiest way is to use DrakConf. Selectable via the gui menu or on a command shell.
If you can't get to the gui, I believe that DrakConf will default to text mode. Not sure with this, haven't been using my linux box for half a year now.

You can also use the XConfigurator but this is a bit riskier since it is like reconfiguring the whole XServer all over again. But this will wokr in text mode.

Hope this helps.
