Question

Good Morning,
I am using Mandrake 7, and I just got my Sound Blaster Live card working by changing the BIOS to non-PNP OS. I was happy to get the sound working because I had worked on this for a while. I just bought the SB Live card and it is supported. Now I get disconnected when trying to dial my ISP. The KPPP comes back with a message saying that the pppd daemon was ended. It starts to dial up, and when it is connected it quits as soon as it gets connected to the network. I changed it back to PNP OS, and the modem works great, but the sound does not work. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.......

Well, I got the modem to connect to my ISP, but I could not do it with KPPP. I set up ppp from the network configuration, and set it up to dial up when I log on to the computer. It works and is an OK work-around but is not as convenient as KPPP. I must be spoiled with the GUI of KDE. I am VERY happy with the speed that Linux gets me around the web, it is much faster than Windows. My wife refuses to use Linux (this machine is a dual boot), but she always complains about how slow things are on the 'net, she is pretty impatient anyway. This alone would be a selling point for her.
