How to remove bootloader from hard drive?

grub is a bootloader, like lilo. resides in master boot record. Doesn't have anything to do with formatting. I use grub with Red Hat 7.2 and win98, giving me the option at boot which operating system that I want to boot into. For more information on grub, I suggest that you visit http://www.redhat.com and download the installation pdf. good luck.
