I am very new to Linux, so bear with me. Yesterday I spent four hours downloading Mandrake 8.1 from linuxiso.org. For the life of me, I could not figure out how to burn the CD. I followed the directions as best I could for Easy CD Creator but I cant find the .iso file on my hard drive. When I look at properties of the downloaded file, it does not show the .iso extension. In Easy CD Creator, you are asked to find the file you want to burn. I changed the file type to *.iso and then go to where the .iso file is on my HD, but it is not there. If I go to Windows Explorer, I can see the downloaded file plain as day (minus the .iso file extension). I went back this morning to linuxiso.org to re-download the file. This time I paid close attention to the file I was dowloading and it clearly shows the .iso extension. Why can't I see this extension on my HD or in Easy CD Creator? I AM LOST!!! The good news is, I have learned some really neat new cuss words during the process. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try using something small and non-proprietary like www.fireburner.com to burn your ISO.
Is your windows explorer set to display file extensions? Is the file size correct? If it is .. just rename the file to x.iso and open up the file using fireburner. |
