formatting mandrake 8.1
hi
right now i am dual-booting xp and mandrake 8.1. this was kinda just a test to learn a little about linux. i want to install mandrake 8.2, but i think i should format the partition with 8.1 on it cause i think i might have caused some problems. will this work? to just format that partition and install 8.2 on it? thanks |

You can just boot with 8.2 and setup as you normally would, you can erase out the partitions you dont need from the partition manager on it

Hi Dustin, not sure what you are using to do the partitions, but if you use Mandrake's tool all you need to do is install from the CD like you normally would, then when it's time to partition the disk, select the disk space you are using for your older version. This will overwrite the "old" version with the "new" version. You can also use Disk Manager in XP to delete / format the partition you intend to use for Linux, then again when installing Linux select the partition for the install. I hope I made sence.
Good luck! |
