Setting up a VPN Tunnel over DSL....
Hi!
First off I should say that I know NOTHING about Linux. My step-son lives across the country from us and we meet with he and his Lady once a week for gaming. We ran into the problem that alot of games are NAT unfriendly so to get around this he suggested we set up a VPN Tunnel on a Linux based computer. So I found a Pentium computer and he sent me a Linux operating system (DEBIAN 2.4.7 I believe) and we would meet over IRC and he would tell me what commands to type in to set up the VPN. We were sucessful in setting up the tunnel and used it for a few months before I lost my DSL service. Then the linux Box sat unused for a few months until we installed a modem in it. We were halfway through setting up the VPN to run thru the Modem when we had to stop having our tech nights. Now, we are going to resume our game meets in a few weeks when I have DSL again and I need to set the VPN on my own to run through the DSL but I don't know how to do that. Might there be any of you out there who would feel comfortable explaining to me what I need to type in to make the VPN set up for the DSL again rather then dial up? I am a total "Newbi" to all this so please understand that I would need things explained in the most basic terms. Or are there any websites that would explain how to do this that a "Newbi" can understand? Thanks for reading this! -Zasha Last edited by Zasha; 06-08-2002 at 01:25 AM. |
