Linux Mandrake 7.0
Hello,
I recently aquired an old P2 400 with 64MB RAM. Decided I was gonna install Linux on the machine so I could mess with it to see just what I could use it for. My buddy has linux on a box at his place and from work he can telnet to it. My buddy is running Linux S.U.S.E. All I had was Mandrake so I figured I would give it a try. However when I try to Telnet to it, I get a message saying connection refused. Now is there a Telnet Server with Mandrake or is that something that comes with S.U.S.E. only?. If there is no telnet server with mandrake, can I download one and install it in mandrake? Thanks for any input on this subject |

There should be a telnet-(something).rpm file on your install CD. You can use the RPM software, as the root user, to load this file:
su - cd /mnt/cdrom/(directory/where/files/are) rpm -ivh telnet* You may encounter some dependencies, you may not. If you do, use rpm to install the deps first, then resume installing telnet. |
