Any distro (Mandrak, Red Hat, Suse) should work, most have an "Web/FTP Server" intallation options. If you want to try something different check out ClarkConnect, it's a distro based on Red Hat but with all the extras removed so it's a smaller installation.

I've been told Mandrake is more unix like, whether that is true or not i dont know, and if it being more unixlike is better i dont even know,

I have these flavors currently downloaded;

Free BSD 5.0
Mandrake 8.2
Slakeware 8.0
Slakeware 8.1
Red Hat 6.1 (Full Box Set)
Red hat 7.3

And 7.2 RH aswell i think

Anyone have any clues what i should go for, I have only currenlty worked with installing red hat, but im open to anything

Im not sure if this is worth knowingbut i want to be able to configure a USB ADSL modem on it, and i heard itws pretty dificult - any flavors easier to do this on?

Thanks alot all,
James

Any of the Linux distributions will let you share the internet with a Windows computer. They are good at that.

I note that you are thinking about Mandrake, and that you are worried about your UBS (ADSL) modem. I had a hard time getting my PCI modem running with mandrake. It kept telling me that I had installed a winmodem--when I hadn't. My problems ended when I went the Mandrake help site and did a search. Really good information. It solved my problems in a few minutes. My point is don't forget the distro's help site.
