At last, its found my modem...but...

Well i finally got RedHat to find my usb ADSl modem,
But now i have no throughput

i used pppd call adsl or what-not and all seems good,
i check ifconfig ppp0 and i get a listing of connection info but all the values are at 0 as i cant send/recieve anything

i cant ping either,

Does anyone have any ideas?

(Will my ISP (BT) give any supprt for linux?)

hi, it was a tutorial like that (pretty much exactly the same) that i've been using, its all been good so far - lile getting the modem to actaully be reconised and setting up ppp
its just connecting now, everything seems to work fine,
i type pppd call adsl and it all seems good
then i type ifconfig ppp0 to check connection status and everything stays blank, like im not connected at all

Got no throughhput at all, no pages/pings etc..

Dont have a clue what to do

I clueless about that modem, but did you remember to set up DNS to point to your isp's DNS servers? It's easy to forget.

i added a line to a file, which i believed to sort out that problem

something in the etc/ppp/peers/options file i THINK, i cant remember exactly as i've tried so much

Im gonna jot down yahoo's ip and try pinging that, fingers crossed,
I tried something eariler, opening another command and used tail -f /var/log/messages which shoed me some interesting things about when i connected, i'll c/paste it in here soon

(having to swap between 2 computers all the time)
