SuSE 6.2 install partition questions

Hi All;
I bought this set some years ago and am now finally installing (time to get my penguin feet wet)

I've a 30 G drive..20 = Windows98se.......10 G I formatted with Partition Magic 6.0 for linux ext2.......then I started the SuSE install
I'm installing from CD......everything goes fine until we partition.......I can only create one partition all 10 G's .....YaST does not give me the option to create partitions....somewhere I got the idea that I want 4 partitions:
hda8 /boot ........ 200 Mb
hda9 /home ......... 200 Mb
hda10 /swap ......... 120 Mb ( i have 8 mb dedicated to Vid)
hda11 /root ............ rest of drive

I'm to the point where YaST wants install everything on hda8 on a partition identified as /........I read in the manual that by default YaST will create 3 partitions
/boot
/swap
/root
at this point this has not happened (does this occur during install ? ).
when I was fooling around I got to a command prompt /# but don't know any commands....

Am I suppose to have the 4 partitions BEFORE I install or do I let YaST do its thing and then change the structure later.....

well this is long enough ...if yous have any thoughts I would appreciate reading them TIA

oh yeah!...I think I want to use loadlin instead of lilo ....when do I configure that in ....during or after install?
thanks again
