Boom the (L)GPL is a headache

can someone please explain to me in clear, maybe even patronizing, terms if it is possible to make commercial, or at the very least, non gpl programs with gcc, libc, and whatever other libraries or utilites that may hinder this goal? I keep on hearing of loopholes like dynamic linkage but then this make no sense to me! confused I am.
