Hi All, help please
Running Red Hat 7.2, serial modem, freeserve isp, using kppp. kppp works fine - connects to isp, but the problem is with (I guess) starting pppd. Messages to xterm and /var/logs/messages "modprobe: Can't find module ppp0" How do I fix this? I've found some suggestions to put this in /etc/modules.conf: alias ppp ppp_default but to no avail. wvdial also had problems, again after authentication from isp, presumably again with pppd? Any suggestions please? |

RH has been pretty good at changing configuration tools of late. I'm using 7.3, so we may be different... At this point, I'm hoping you have kde up.
From "K" to "SYSTEM" , do you have an 'Internet Connection Wizard"? or at least "Network Configuration" listed? If so, did the hardware, devices, and DNS tabs list all your information, as well as a connection named ppp0? The error sounds like ppp0 was never established, in this area. Please note, if the connection is listed (ppp0), you can probably edit advanced properties from here. |
