Games for linux*sighs*
man, i would have linux only on my computer if they just had the games on it. Like all the new games comming out ... Warcraft 3, everquest 2, Doom 3, UT2k3 , Star wars galaxies *sighs*
seems like most of these games are written in C++ anyways |

Hi castlef,
Yep, that's one of the main problems holding Linux back, lack of current game support. Some games like Q3A have been "ported" (re-compiled) for Linux since, like you said, it's mostly C++, but not enough. |

oops, theres one down
... "Q - Will there be a Linux version of Doom III? A - Yes! - It will be a safe bet that you will be able to get Doom III for Linux with at least Nvidia video card support. I will consider helping any other credible open source driver effort for other video card support under Linux, but right now I can't say that I see anything beyond Nvidia support at the moment. ATI is going to release a Linux driver for the Radeon 9700, but I don't have any details on it yet or if it will work correctly with Doom III on Linux. " lead developer of Doom III engine John supports open source yay ! |

My understanding of Linux is that it is so much fun to fool around with, setting stuff up and working with all the preferences/open source that computer games are lame in comparison.

Morriswindgate: I think you're right, although I haven't had the chance to install Mandrake 2.0 yet (waiting for my new build to arrive sometime this week). However if linux did support all games, and I get the hang of it, I'd ditch windows in a second!
