Linux and the Sony PCGA-CDRW1
Anyone know how to configure the Sony PCGA-CDRW1 so that it will work on linux during installation?
I'm trying to install linux on my notebook and I'm using this drive. I get an error about Device 0.0 having no assigned IRQ. This is not an exact description, I'll run the installation again and post the exact message. I'm hoping someone has already used this drive to install linux and can provide me with some info. Thanks in advance. |

I'm posting to provide info for people who might have encountered the same problem.
The hanging had nothing to do with the drive. I've searched the web and found out that extra config parameters are needed. here is the link : http://www.stevebarr.com/cgi-bin/cgi...t/goto.pl?c1vn In the end I had to do a network install ( hard disk install will work too ), there were problems in detecting my dvd drive. Had to use redhat as well, because I've found a site that uses it with a similar notebook model as the one i got. ( Saved me a lot of headaches ) ![]() Video works as well as the mouse, but I'm still trying to make the network and sound work. Hardware : Sony Vaio PCG-C1MT DVD/CDRW PCG-CRWD1 ( i.link connector ) |
