reinstalling mandrake
hi all...
what is the best way to go about reinstalling mandrake? i played arround with it during the past week, just changing settings and stuff (my mouse won't work anymore either). i want to start off clean again. could i just boot from the mandrake 8.2 cd? thanx dswissmiss |

That works. Just install it as a 'new install' instead of an upgrade. That way it will re-format your existing linux partitions, and not attempt to carry over the old settings.

yeah, I've done that a few times myself, it goes pretty quickly, and very painless (always a plus). What was the problem you were having with your mouse? I had one problem with 8.1 in which my mouse would often stop working in the traditional sense, in that I could see the cursor, but I could not move it, so I had to do a lot of CTRL+(windows logo)+ other things to navigate and get my stuff done. But most often I just reset it. I also found the problem in RH 7.1 + 7.2 but it didn't happen too often, probably just the mouse I have is cheap and generic

A good idea would be to save the package selections to disk if you are going to do routine reinstallations .. that is of course u didnt have any issues with the package selections.
