No cd audio in RH 7.3

Hi all,

I recently got my sound working in Red Hat 7.3. I'm using an SB Live Audigy Platinum. The driver I used I got from here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/emu10k1

compiled and installed it...rebooted and Red Hat found my audigy. MP3's and wav's seem to play fine, but I can't get any sound from my audio cd's. I doublechecked the mixer settings and everything looks right. Any ideas of what else I could check, or what I might be forgetting? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. I sure do. I should have mentioned it works fine in windows. There must be something else I'm missing here. Thanks again.

Hi Floppyman,

Do you have permisson to use the CD as a user? Log in as root and see if the CD plays there.

OOPS!

Hi Floppyman,

I should have asked, do you get any errors when you try to play a CD? Or does it simply crash?

OOPS!

Thanks again for the reply, OOPS. I played some more with the mixer settings and plugged my speakers into a different port and everything is working fine now.

Hi,

I just played around with the settings a little bit, and also I plugged my speakers in differently (they were plugged in incorrectly). I'm in windows right now so I can't tell you the exact things I changed. Try playing with the settings a little bit, and let me know what you can come up with. HTH
