Sound skip during linux
Hi all,
This one just baffles me. It seems sometimes when I play a mp3 in linux, the sound skips a little. When I first installed the linux drivers for my SB Live Audigy, I didn't have this problem. It just started one day, and mp3's seem to be the only problem. Somehow this leads me to believe it's maybe a hardware issue? I know that some people have had mp3 skip problems with the Audigy in windows, could this be the case for linux as well? I have this mp3 skip problem in windows as well, and funny enough I didn't have this problem in windows at first either. From what I've read though I'm not the only one. Or do you guys think it's something else? Thanks in advance. |

i've been getting the same problem under slackware with a intel i810 onboard sound card. I was stumped.
Under KDE i opened sound server and forced 48000hz output and the largest possible buffer and it rarely skips (but still does) and assume this is simply something we will have to wait and see. |

You know what's funny, when I installed RH8 over 7.3, the sound skip seemed to have disappeared. Then again, I installed some newer drivers for my soundcard, so maybe that fixed it. I'll keep those tips in mind though, should I have problems again.
