Slackware 8.1
Hi all,
Will Slackware 8.1 run smoothly on this machine (older laptop), or should I opt for an older release? P200 72mb ram 2gig hdd Also does the slackware come with any boot managers (e.g. grub)? Thanks in advance guys. |

A desktop would be interesting... KDE is getting a little more demanding. Might wanna try ICE or some other lightweight. the *nix part is always gonna be good and fast. If you try KDE 3 on that system, please tell us how it went- on my 450mHz K6-2 with 64MB KDE 2 ran more smoothly than win98. Consider that.

Hi TMAN,
Thanks for the reply. I'm running windows 98 on that laptop right now. I'll give Slackware 8.1 a try when I have time and will let you guys know how it turned out. |

Slackware doesn't come with grub, but it comes with LILO. Slackware is designed to be compatible with systems as far back as the 386. Should run fine.
