dual boot with GRUB

Ok, against all advice from you guys (not a good idea, but I have reasons), I installed SuSE 8.1 personal before XP. I did this so YaST2 could partition my HD for me (15gig FAT32, 30gig FAT32, 1 gig Linux swap, and 28.5 gig Reiser) and I didn't have to go through FDisk. Now, when I install XP, I'll convert the 1st partition to NTFS so I get the partitions I want. My question is: How do I get Grub to show up after installing XP? I have a fresh HD, so nothing valuable to be lost here. I know XP will delete my MBR and get rid of Grub, but is there a way to reinstall it? Thanks in advance for all the help.

Haven't used it, so treat my advice with caution, but I believe you can jst re-install from a floppy after it has been trashed by XP.

I haven't looked in on GRUB for a while (Sourceforge if I recall correctly), but I would expect there is a discussion forum for it, so you might be best asking there if no-one here can help in detail.

Most other recent distros have a "rescue" mode on the install CD#1. That is, you boot to the CD, hit F1 (usually) to get a command prompt, or even a menu list, and then enter/select "rescue". The "rescue" entry then usually presents a short menu including reinstalling/repairing the boot loader.

Otherwise, if you have an emergency boot disk (either created from the Suse installation or downloaded like Tom's rtbt disk), use that to access your Linux space, chroot to your hard drive root partition and then re-install Grub (i.e., grub-install hda) to the MBR. You may also need to edit your /boot/grub/menu.lst file to include your Windoze space).
