Promise Card

Hi all,

I'm running Mandy 8.1 (along with Win2K and WinME). I have a Zip250 connected to a Promise Ultra 133 card. Don't see any Linux drivers on their website and I can't access the drive as Mandy didn't recognize it. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Kernel patch for 2.4.19 & 2.4.18 - you will have to upgrade your kernel if Mandy 8.1 doesnt use any of those kernels

Apparently enabling the Promise PDC in kernel works as well. (I am a bit skeptical but if it works thats great...) http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/.../msg00373.html

Hi Statica,

First thanks for your replys. I tried enabling the Promise PDC in kernel. Nope, didn't work. Downloaded the patch from your link...Mandy 8.1's kernel is 2.4.8. This falls short of what is needed, doesn't it? If so, how do I update the kernel? And once that is done, how do I install the patch? To what directory?

Thanks in advance.

BTW, enabling the Promise PDC may not have worked because I have an Ultra 133. Although the link you provided says it should work, the help section in xconfig only says it enables Ultra 33/66/100. I know that even in Windows, if I used a cable that wasn't labled ATA 133, nothing I connected to the card would work.
