linux questions (newbie style)

What is the point in having 4 different desktops? Ok I understand having muiltple consols of command line stuff, (well I have seen in use on servers, i have no commandline running but have looked at a few)

The Bar at the bottom of my screen is very busy, thinking about removing a few of the items. I wont mess things up much if I do will I?

Thats the essence of choice isnt it .. you see what you like and then stick with it, if you want to conserve space you remove the desktop you dont like.

you can add or remove or change the properties of any applet you see on your task bar. there are some really wonderful docking applets out there ..

Hi byte,

It took me about 30 seconds to get hooked on multiple desktops. Now I can't live without them.

OOPS!

I have not figured out the multiple desktops, but i am getting better at getting around the system. I have FTP running and I understand how it works. Next is getting Apache running. well Apache is up and running, but I have to learn a bit more about taking out the default HTML webpages and inserting my own. But that is coming.
