If anyone here knows Samba, please help me. Well, here's my dilemma: I've used it to connect my Red Hat Linux 8 and Windows XP. However, on the Linux computer, when I try to make it a PDC, using the smbpasswd -j DOMAIN command, it says that it cannot find the domain controller for domain DOMAIN. here's the file, as best i could remember it, for smb.conf:
[global] domain master=yes local master=yes preferred master=yes win support=yes workgroup=DOMAIN os level=32 announce level=4.0 security=user [public] path=/tmp writeable=yes A book I have said that I had to join the domain controller to DOMAIN, using the smbpasswd -j DOMAIN command, and supposed to get the message "Joining DOMAIN as PDC" or something like that. But instead, I only get the message above. On the side note, I can't access SWAT in Mozilla. It says "Connection 127.0.0.1:901 refused". Any ideas on this, or does it have any connection to my above problem? Can anyone please help me? Also, I'm new to this. Thanks in advance. Last edited by TheTrexx; 12-03-2002 at 02:37 PM. |

First things first, you need to get to SWAT. See if you can use http://localhost:901/ If that doesn't work, then I suspect you need to see if SWAT is enabled. Of course, you might check to see if your misc hosts file contains an entry that associates the hostname "localhost" with 127.0.0.1. You can find that by looking in linuxconf.
